Abstract

Preprosthetic surgery aiming implants insertion is recent. It is the result of the increasing demand for implant bone prosthesis, even in cases of bony mass deficit. Treatment of major bony atrophy with maxilla-mandible class III relationship has been proposed with combined correction of the discrepancy and bone reconstruction. This was the beginning of the Le Fort 1 and bone grafting reconstruction technique. This technique is nowadays one of the classic procedures performed in implant preprosthetic maxillar surgery. We here report the technique we recommend and its most usual variations.
